What should I do when I can not get a Social Security number for my baby?
We live outside the United States and away from the embassy will issue one after I give him a passport, and if I bring the baby and her husband with me, is difficult. Can I put SS # N / A? Or not mention the child at all, or would it illegal?
Until you get a SSN for it, you can not demand. There is no exception to this rule, unfortunately. You can now file without claiming the exemption and then file an amended return later when you get the number.
