Handmade Original

You went to a special event or party and took many pictures but what you gonna do with them now? If you're like most people, you'll see the pictures on your computer or from the envelope has happened to them and it will end. They will be filed away never to be seen.

It is a shame. I know because I have boxes and boxes of pictures that are rarely seen because it is too difficult to achieve. Conversely, I also have several scrapbooks that are just a joy to watch. To me they are family heirlooms that I can not even put a price on.

The idea to put my photos in an album handmade came to me after I attended a certain event and several people have asked me copies of my pictures. I did not just give these people a package a few images at random because this event deserves special treatment. It was special so I wanted to show images in a special way. It is not enough to just images. I wanted to have words with images.

Although the scrapbooks handmade take much time to do, they can not be beaten for quality and uniqueness. I started with this extraordinary event and have several books since then including the two below. Follow the steps below to make your own:

Make an album in hand:

Mount prints on 8-1/2 x 11 white card stock. In addition to prints and paper card, I recommend you get a paper cutter and a round corner. The cutter you can cut with precision photos and cardstock to size, and round the corner is really nice for shaping the corners of your picture.

I usually put my first impressions in chronological order, the crop size, rounded corners (personal preference) and then mount them with glue sticks.

In addition to pages of photos, adding a page of a family tree or a page itinerary can really help tell the story. My scrapbooks usually end up being 20-40 pages with 3 to 5 pictures on each page.

Putting words on the pictures. After all the images are mounted on the pages of shares cards scrapbook, I'm at my computer and simply pass through each page and type in a Word document blank captions for each picture.

When I started doing these books, I bought a disk of fonts really cool called "The Best of Creative Lettering" from my magazine Favorite Scrapbook, "Creating Keepsakes Magazine." If you want a great scrapbooking resources, this magazine is!

After the legends are in the Word document, I print them and assemble all the appropriate image using glue sticks.

Embellish the pages. Now that the photos and captions are mounted, I dress up the pages with memories, like, golf scorecards and ticket stubs, and I add stickers to limit the amount of white space. Do not use metallic stickers as they do not copy well.

Copy, laminate and coil. The cheapest way to make copies of original pages is to go to a copy place like Kinkos or reproduction, and make color copies up (bring your own cardstock). It is more expensive, but they will do for you, if you prefer.

This is one of main reasons why I do these books. You can make as many copies as you want the original and everyone receives a copy of their own home. You can not do with scrapbooks made in those, big fancy albums.

To make the scrapbooks more sustainable, I laminate the covers front and rear. The books will stay longer and prettier. Finally, the manual must be connected. I want to use the type of black coils because they resist well and really pretty.

I spend a lot of time and energy creating these scrapbooks in hand. When I give a person these special gifts and see their expression, it really warms my heart and makes it all worthwhile.
